What a year it’s been! As our thoughts turn to spending time with those we love (even if only online), please take a moment to think about the students in your life – those young people in grades 6 through 12. It’s been a tough year for them. Let’s face it, distance learning sucks! Citing a recent Rand Corporation study, EdWeek reports that teachers and students are struggling with online learning.
Learn how you can help shake it up and add some fun to their learning experience. Please visit our Make A Dent In The Universe page on GoFundMe to help students develop their digital communication skills, using storytelling as the method and podcasting as the medium. And if you like what you see, encourage your friends to help out too.
Thank you, and Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Podcasting in the Classroom is a Conversayer project to promote a simple idea: giving students podcasting assignments. It’s a novel way to engage students, and it works for virtually any subject. Why have students write yet another a dreary report when they can produce a podcast instead? It’s not as hard as it sounds. With a bit of guidance, students have produced impressive podcast episodes using tools they’re already familiar with – smartphones, tablets, laptops and web apps.
We prototyped the concept at a local middle school and the results were very encouraging. The teachers reported that the students enjoyed the assignment and that they became more interested in researching the topic. What’s more, in a post-assignment survey over 70% of the students indicated that they were interested in doing another podcast assignment.
Here’s your opportunity to help us bring this exciting new learning experience to schools and students throughout the country. Please participate in a fundraiser to help Conversayer develop online courseware that guides teachers through the process of giving students podcasting assignments for any subject. This courseware also guides students through the process of producing a podcast episode. This guidance is designed to make the process fun and ensure a successful outcome.
